| Yo. I have been practising DJing for a few years now, and have done a couple of friends' gigs, but just recently have been really put off practising because my decks keep playing up. They are direct drive, from a not-so well known German company - Omnitronic. The model number is (I think) DD3220. The problem is, I'll be in the middle of a mix, then one deck will lose speed for about half a second, throwing out my mix and causing me much embarrassment when I'm playing in public! Originally I thought it might be a power issue as they have a european plug and I was running them through an adaptor, so I replaced the plug with a UK one, but the problem still occurs. Any ideas what might be causing this? The only other decks I've have were some Numark belt drives, which still work pretty well (as well as belt drives can, anyway). Perhaps I'll get back into it if I can sort this problem out. Cheers. |

| Agreed... unfortunately if you buy cheepo makes like omi and citronic etc you can expect these sort of random problems! Buy something decent, you won't regret it and you'll have the chance to see improvements in your technique much more quickly..... avoid anything with "...tronic" at the end of the name.... you can't go wrong with Technics/Vestax! |

As has already been said, get yourself some Technics 1210s or a pair of Stanton 120C turntables. Second hand off ebay isn't a bad idea. Cheap turntables, you're asking for problems. |
