I would suggest maybe trying fruityloops, also acid pro is quite a good starter prog imo as thats just based on loops. Or you could try reason, but imo reason isnt as helpful to beginners as the last two.

Fruity loops is the way forward for people just getting to grips within a few months move upto reason or cubase . You wont want to keep fruity its all a bit basic. Awaitng my copy of cubase the now cant wait to get to grips with it.

Ableton live v5 m8 all the way. So simple and easy to use yet a very powerful tool. use it to record ideas or build a full track then drop it instantly live view and DJ Live. Excellent. Free demo availible at www.ableton.com

have to agree that ableton live 5 is the way forward and it has a tuturiol can be quite handy. fruity loops and reason are alright but not niether have much capacity for running any outboard hardware. best off starting with ableton as it will do everything

Ableton live 5 is a great piece of software been using it for a while now and have even started using it to play my live sets, you will however need a reasonably good midi controller, i use an evolution uc-33 and novation x-station for playing out just cos they're small and easy to carry rouind but there plenty more out there just try a few out see what you like the best..... Good luck my friend |

Yeah m8 defo a good idea. The more powerful the system the better m8 to be honest. But as long as youve gt a pentium 3 processor and 256mb Ram u'll be ok for using basic recording and djing functionaity witin ableton but if you want to do lots of multitrack recording or playing lots of samples simultaneosly then a higher spec machine is a must hope tht helped. Sure theres sum minnimun requirments on the site aswell m8. www.ableton.com

to be honest I have reason, cubase, live5 and fruity and if your gonna be making techno witch i guess you will be doing start off with fruity/FLstudio mate, its what im using at the momment reason doesnt support VSTi's...me thinks cubase is a nitemare lol live5 is very good for live stuff but takes awhile to learn flstudio is just soooooo easy and supports vsti's........and u can make techno music peice of p**s! personal choice for a beginer = FLStudio (but get XXL edition) learn Flstudio, learn the basic's and THEN move to Live5 or Reason
