Well that's different from editing dodgy mixes.
Some just find editing dodgy mixing transitions is cheating, not so bad for handing mixes out to mates and that, just when sending them out to promoters as demo's mainly.
A lot don't like how the more well known DJ's have other Up and Coming DJ's put cds together for them. But that's another subject right there lol.
There's nothing wrong with editing a mix to fit on a cd though.

That's different to editing bad mixes though
Changing the volume, eq'ing applying dynamics to your mix etc is not a problem, as your only enhancing the sound! Again, it's just that some just find that editing bad mixes and then sending them out as demos to promoters is wrong.
