Default Hi everyone, DJ Mach 1 here in London

hear my mixes at www.djmach1.com and be nice :=)

Biography

Born and raised ?up north? in the 70?s I have been privelaged to be part of a few decades of musical influences including northern soul, punk, electronic and more importantly for myself, the introduction or the re-introduction of dance music. I may not have been involved directly with these musical trends but once I heard dance music that was the moment I fell in love. Dance music was such a great rebellious sound that was so different to the 80?s. I suppose for me it was the connection I had with it that perhaps a rocker or a new romantic had connected with punk or electro. Don?t ask me to explain how or why, it just was.

Extending my love of music it was In the 80?s I formed and was a member of a group that were fortunate to have being signed to Elton John?s record label ?rocket records? , I had the pleasure of working with ?Bronski beat? and the world famous production team ?stock-aitken-waterman? who were hammering out dance hits one after the other for artists such as Kylie minogue, Rick Astley and Donna Summer to name but a few. Having relative success across Europe with my own tracks I then experienced mixing B-sides and an A-side remix collaboration with DJ/Producer Ian Levine on the electro track ?European Boy? fronted by steve grant of ?tight fit? fame.

Although I was in the thick of the UK?s upfront dance scene, my ?day? time job of business development manager took me abroad to live in several different countries including Bermuda, United arab emirates, Venezuela and California. Whilst in Bermuda in the early 90?s, my musical passion reputation soon spread and it was there that I played my first official nerve wrecking DJ set at a friends birthday bash of 400 guests. From then on I was completely hooked and was soon mixing CD?s for bars, clubs and local radio. Before I knew it I was playing in the islands largest club ?Oasis? followed by guest appearances at ?Splash? and a weekly slot on the radio. Living in these countries allowed me to pick up different musical influences that you may still hear hints of in my sets today?

I play an eclectic mix of tracks that are labelled soulful, funky, disco, tribal, tech, progressive, electro, uplifting house music. These days its really hard to label a specific sound. Styles are mutating and evolving in to this all-over new sound, which is basically dance music going back to its roots. Limiting myself to just one style? No way ? I?d hang up my cans!

Being based back in London over the last few years has allowed me to savour the current dance scene and gradually edge my way in to the clubs as a DJ. My goal now is to be the best I can be at what I do, continually learning and growing. This is what I want and this is who I am.
