King Unique are back with a killer new single ‘Yohkoh’. A melodic tech/prog/house (or whatever it's called these days) gurn-fest of epic proportions, ‘Yohkoh’ is KU’s first single since their year off from the studio – a year that saw them tour their ‘Electric’ mix album across the globe, and left Matthew Roberts marooned in a mud soaked Brazilian rainforest and Matt Thomas cornered by Tasmanian Devils on a beach at midnight – amongst many other (mis)adventures... Brimful of these groovy experiences the Matts returned to the studio and poured out ‘Yohkoh’, a tribute to life, love, happiness and the miracle of having a job where you get paid to go to Tokyo and drink yourself unconscious.

Acidic and euphoric in equal measure, Detroit flavoured riffs and a rumbling twisting bass slide along on the back of surging soaring strings and techno beats, all turned out in the trademark King Unique style. Having slipped a cheeky early copy to Danny Howells he emailed straight back to say, "Beautiful tune, one of the best you've done I think. Thank you!!" (Thank you too Danny, cheque’s in the post. Just please don’t spend it on a shirt...)

Backing up the KU original are a couple of heavyweight remixes - Pitch & Hold create a driving dark mix that’s all about a relentless snarling bass groove, underpinning epileptic riffs and clanging chimes. We like it – and so does Laurent Garnier while we’re name dropping. The second remix sees Luke Dzierzek fresh back from spending all his Citroen royalties at the Spearmint Rhino club and taking things into savage big-room territory with his trademark glitch assault. A collision of tech/breaks/house/electro/dubst...oh fuck it – it’s pure Dzierzek. And that’s why we like it.
