Default Gimmick @ Canvas -Sept 1st - Luke Soloman, Justin Harris

Saturday 1st September
Gimmick @ Canvas
10pm - 6am

Gimmick recordings is a label aimed to the underground. First release will coincide with opening party at Canvas on Saturday 1st September. Joining resident Dj's Coxswain and Victor FL will be the men behind The Freaks - Indeed we are talking about Luke Soloman and Justin Harris.com

Lukes involvement in the music industry began almost ten years ago when in 1992 he was hired to buy dance tracks for an old soul record shop in North London. Not content with toiling away in a retail position, he soon formed a recording partnership with his co-worker Ty Holden and completed remixes for labels such as Freetown and Black Sunshine. Soon after Freetown picked up the young Luke to work in promotions for their rapidly expanding dance label that went on to sign such acts as Robert Owens, Master at Work, Kerri Chandler, Ron Trent and Lee John.

Luke has been incredibly busy as of late. Current work includes performing on percussion and vocals with his band Freaks, which features a six-piece band with lead singer Stella Attar, on keyboards Justin Harris, Guitar, Johnny Rock, Bass Ty Holden and Sascha Darroch Davis on drums.

Aside from producing Freaks, Luke and partner Justin Harris have been asked to produce 2 new songs for forthcoming Robert Owens album. Other producers working on album include Roberto Mello, Dixon, Ame and Kirk D'Giorgio.

Justin has been DJing since 1987. He started producing records in 1994 and three years ago, teamed up with Luke Solomon to create the Freaks project. Twenty-eight EP's and over[b] thirty remixes</b> later, the Freaks are steadily gaining respect and rave reviews from the global house music scene. On their own 'Music For Freaks' label they have released ten EPs along with their first album 'The Beat Diaries; all of which received high critical acclaim and are continuing to sell worldwide. Harris and Solomon will also release a label compilation entitled 'Some Freaky Stuff' followed by their second album early next year.

During his musical career Justin has also recorded with Luke Solomon under various guises such as Robotic Movement, Freesoul (with Diesel) and Oliloqui to name but a few. Their tracks were for such seminal house labels as Classic, Phono, 20/20 Vision, Large, Seasons & SSR. Justin has also recorded his own solo projects as himself or Philippe Maurice for Classic Sensory Productions, Monkey Fruit and Refried amongst others.
