Question Monitor speakers - help needed!

I need some advice on a decent monitor for home use. I know that usually with every piece of equipment there is something that stands out above the rest and im wondering what the kind of 'standard' speaker is for home use. im looking to spend around £100 to £150 but if there is anything for a little more that is miles better then id stretch to that. I have a pair of skytec speakers that i got for about 80 notes a while back and they are complete pony. A mobile phone has better sound quality than these!!!!!!!!! any help would be much appreciated

what do you want them for?

just mixing or production?

I'll assume just mixing cause you won't get a decent pair of production monitors for £150

i'd take a listen to a pair of jbl control 1's (should be able to pick up a pair for £100 - £150 don't be fooled by the size they sound great

If you are just mixing to yourself in bedroom/house my advice would be to get some secondhand Hi-Fi speakers and a Hi-Fi amp.
The reason I say this is: If you were into production, then you would need (ideally) speakers with a flat frequency response ie ones that do not enhance the sound in any way, but give it to you 'as is' warts and all.
When you listen to music while mixing, you really want something that enhances the parts of the sound that your ears like the best, usually the bass and treble. Hi-Fi speakers do this, and you can tailor the sound to your room with use of the amplifiers tone controls.
If you go for something with a good name / reputation like technics, sony, pioneer etc you will get great quality sound and have enough volume for your room. I use Two amps (both technics) and two sets of speakers (1 technics 1 jamo) but both were secondhand and the total cost including both amps and both pairs of speakers was about £150, and trust me it sounds pretty phatt and I can hear it 3 streets away if I turn it up lol !

The IKEY Audio, these appear red...and theres another one that's yellow, can't think of it's name now.
