Hi, i'm completely new to this WHOLE thing, i bought my first turntable a few days ago, a Kam DDX4500 USB - Kam DDX4500 USB Turntable - DJ Equipment from Djkit.co.uk - and so far works perfectly as a USB turntable, ie i can easily record my vinyls direct onto my computer, but this is the only piece of equipment i have to work with it (no mixer no speakers etc) so at the moment i can only hear my vinyls through my computer speakers which completely suck. So, i figure i need to buy all this extra equipment so i can use it to its full potential and get some decent speakers so i was wondering if you guys could help me out here as i dont have a clue what to get... I need a mixer that will be great for scratching with but also i will need to plug my Akai MPC1000 into it, as although i dont know anything about this, i figure basically you plug speakers -> mixer and then things like turntables and MPC's -> mixer and they all play through the speakers? Well basically need that.. And second dilema is that i dont know that speakers to get, i'm not looking for top end wallet destroying speakers just small/medium sized ones for home use. So i dont know anything about all this passive/active stuff and whether i need to buy an amplifier as well as speakers. My budget is slightly tight, hopefully £300 for everything i need in total, this should get me some good equipment thats not the bottom of the range from what i've seen! Phew, hope somebody can help! Thanks, Sammy

If you buy active speakers you dont need an amp. If you buy passive spekaers then they need a seperate amp to drive them. If its just for home then have a look on ebay, they are about as cheap as they come.

It depends where you are using them. Carlsbro Gamma 12" 300watt are Great... But it does depend on what size of room, and whether it's for proffessional use or not.
