Default new mixer and stylus

iv only been on my numark decks a couple of times since i got them last week but im after upgrading my mixer its the numark dm950 and im looking to spend about 100-150 just think the numark is a bit limited function wise.

also does having better stylus/needles improve the sound quality of the record and is it worth me upgrading them also what too as i have no clue just want better ones on the decks . thanks again

I'm sorry to say it but for a maximum budget of 150 quid (I take it you're from UK?) for a mixer you're not going to get much in terms of function. EQ's and a cross-fader - that's your lot really. You'll be looking at £250 and up before you start to get any kind of functions outside of basic mixing controls.

Unless of course, you drop on a bargain on ebay or something?

Carts and stylus are questionable in terms of dramatically improving sound quality, imo. I mean, if you pay top price, then you're going to get some improvement, but I honestly think that real, noticeable improvement in sound lies in the quality of the audio gear you're playing though, ie. mixer, amp, speakers, etc...

Unfortunately there aren't many options out there that provides a 'low cost' fix for true improvement in sound.

Just my thoughts......

to be honest you wont notice much difference between the standard numark carts/stylus and ortofon electro's (for example), but the mixer might make more of a difference in sound quality. For £150 you can get something much better than the dm950 which is pretty pants tbh. Look at a 2 channel stanton or gemini model, they wont last forever but you will notice an improvement in the quality of the faders & rotary knobs, as well as the sound.
