Default Speakers - Cerwin Vega VE5M DJ Monitors

Hi all, first post here and I'm after some advice

I'm looking to get some speakers for my set up. My set up is in the small room of the house, not big at all to be honest.

I found these speakers on flea-bay and was wondering what peoples thoughts are on them

Not sure if I can add a link to flea-bay on here (sorry if not) but these are the speakers I am asking about

New Cerwin Vega VE-5M Speakers DJ Monitors VE5 on eBay, also, Speakers, DJ Equipment, Consumer Electronics (end time 09-Mar-08 12:04:11 GMT)

Any thoughts?
Any other speakers I could be looking at in this price range?

Thanks in advance

30 views and no opinion thats says something to me.

Are there any other speakers that I could/should be looking at?

Only looking to pay around £100 for a pair.

Here's a couple I found on the Richer Sounds website.
I looked for speakers around the same price as the Cerwin's.
I'm a novice when it comes to speakers so the ohm's etc... mean nothing to me

What about these? Just after opinion's really.
I've heard of Tangent before, not sure how good they are though.
Tangent EVO

And these JBL's which are half price at the moment. I know JBL have a good rep.
JBL Control 1

thanks again in advance

i've never heard of tangents - so i can't comment on them

i've heard a lot of bigger cerwin vega speakers and they are all right - not sure about the little ones

jbl control 1's are excellent little speakers - my mate had a pair in the room with his decks and i used to love going round to his for a mix - great sound quality and obviously they have jbl build quality. I'd definately go for these

hope that helps

Thanks Tom, much appreciated. I have heard an opinion where someone thinks that the JBL lack a bit of bass, did you think that? Or would you happily have these on your set up?

I found a couple of others aswell on the website and I quite like the LOOK of these GALE's

GALE SILMON at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc.

and these

GALE GOLDMONITBCH at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc.

decisions...decisions

i've never thought they lack bass - maybe in a bigger room

i've never really rated gale speakers

why don't you head down to your local richer sounds with a cd of the kind of stuff you play and ask to hear all the ones you're interested in?

that way you can make your mind up on what suits you and what you play

That would be my next port of call Tom.
As mentioned the room I'm in is the 'runt of the house' and around 8ft square(ish) so I think I'll be looking at the JBL's a bit closer.

Thanks again or your help

i went into richer sounds the other day and they were useless tbh, just wanting to sell me floorstanding speakers!!! grrrr....

im looking at spending abit more £160 ish, and you can get some great behringer active speakers that are highly rated and obv are pre-amped which is handy too..

So you never got to hear the speakers then leon1984? So you are talking about the service from the groundstaff at Richer rather than the speakers themselves? Which Richer Sounds did you go to? My nearest is Romford.

TBH I havn't heard many good things about any Behringer stuff (apart from the champagne of course!!)

yeah the service was crap, just seemed like the usual clowns you get in curry's that read the tickets for you but don't know anything else!!! this was in kingston.

went into west end DJ store today in central and they had some decent speakers so am going to probably buy some from there - about £200 seems to get you a decent enough set i think. Have a Behringer mixer and its not the best or amazing but for £70 is good for the money
