I've only ever used a Pioneer DJM 500 and a Behringer DJX700.

The Behringer DJX700 is cack. The DJM 500 is a top mixer though, the layout rocks.

So err, for me, Pioneer all the way lol.

Sound quality,

Not much difference when playing 16bit CD's / MP3's through an A&H92 though is it

You get better sound playing vinyl through A&H92 aye

To be honest the only thing I like about A&H92 are the filters it has. You could buy Filter FX units for the Pioneer range too though, so you know…

I also think the extra band on A&H92 is a bit over the top. Imo the layout out is nowhere near as good as the DJM

I agree the DJM range is more user friendly and better value for money but i like the EQ's and the filters on the A&H and the Xone 3D is amazin. Pioneer win overall though with the CDJ's, DJM's, and EFX units, simply amazin. The DJM 1000 is an awesome mixer

I've had a Xone 92 for a yr now, I love this mixer! 4 band eq + filters makes really smooth mixing, you can get some good results with the LFO's especially if used together. the mixer still performs like it was out of the box....this mixer will last for ever!

its a tuff call between the Xone 92 and the djm 800 in my opinion, there both first rate. the 'colour effects' may lean me towards the djm at present.

i know loads of people who rate a & h but i just cant quite get into them i' afraid. Fair play the sound quality is good but whose gunna be able to tell (over a pioneer, ecler, mackie etc.) once it's been compressed, eq'd and put through a rig. I know a lot of people who had the early xone's and they all had no end of problems and faults (i don't know if this is still the case)

i don't like the 4 way eq - i always end up mucking around with the wrong one and the gradient doesn't work for me. The knobs are two small and fiddly and i find the fx a bit unfriendly to use (although the filters are top notch)

i find pioneers a whole heap more user friendly, nice big knobs (wa hey), and they have that same quality feel that technics do + they are well made and solid

i see pioneer djm's as having that same thing that technics have. No frills just good build quality. The main reason i choose to own one is that because virtually everywhere i go to play out has them and if i have that set up at home to practise on ... well you know the score. If that wasn't the case i'd probably have an ecler - my mates soundsystem use one and it is very very nice

Yeah fair doos, at the end of the day its not what you use but what you get out of it.

when i got my Xone 92 the djm800 was still on the drawing board, so the 92 was the obvious best choice at the time.

Yeah the Mackie sounds like a good mixer having read reviews before and stuff. There's alot of good mixers around at that level and you need to try them all out to see what works best for you. Agreed the pioneers are excellent mixers and pretty much industry standard along with technics, cdj's etc. but i like the A&H's aswell, so it's just personal preference, what's your opinions on mixers under ?500 ??
