the senny's are nice... had a pair of the sonys before these technic, but the swivel bit bloody snapped on it... it had a plastic tie grip on it fer quite a while holding it together.. they did well tho fer 5 years use, 80 quid well spent, but it just put me off buying the same make as i heard other ppls had snapped in the same place

Really like the sound quality with the sony's but they seem to always break on that swivel which is well annoying. My sony's broke there a few monthes back, i went for sennheiser hd25sp's cause a) the sound's good b)they're robust (no swivel to break) c)they have replaceable parts d)they're cheaper than normal hd25's

I had a pair of them James - I bought a pair from Argos for ?30 they seemed like a good pair of headphones for 8mths of so until the day they packed up on me. The sounds are ok on them. Good for the higher frequencies but not so good for the bass I thought. I also found that the cans were too small - they weren't very comfortable to work with.

Anyways the right can fecked up on mine after 8mths or so....

So I wouldn't rate the 500's whatsoever.

I've heard the 700's are meant to be just as good as the Senny 25's though.

I'll still get the Sennys though. I've always used Tech's and Sony's time for a change

?30? Mines cost me ?50 like 3 years ago.

Not enough bass?? you dont want lots of bass when your DJing, infact keep the bass to a minumum in the headphones is my advice.

Would defo chuck them out for a pair of Senny 25's though.

I got a pair of Numark PHX and Sony MDR V700 will soon be getting the Senny hd25s. As for the comment about bass in phones imo u do need bass but not lots of reverberating disortion like you often get. You need a deep crisp clear thump jus like you'd expect from a top soundsystem (funktion one etc).

The sonys are good for sound quality, the only issue ive noticed (like other people) is the poor build quality in their products. if your spending less than ?40 on headphones go for the Numark PHX's no question. Excellent build quality, ive had them for 2 years without any issues (Except when my mate snapped them whilst ****ing around) and awesome sound quality. I tested them against the sonys and they were as good, comfortable aswel.

Have had two pairs of MDRV500's, currently have HD25SP's which are now back ups to Citronic HP500PRO's which sound as good as the sonys but 20 quid cheaper.

so i don't know anything about equipment, seeing as how i was introduced to the scene about 2 months ago...but my boy's headphones pretty much shot themselves and i was looking to replace them for him as a gift. however i have no clue where to even start, and since i want it to be a surprise i can't exactly ask him what he wants. i found a site with reviews on it and read that ultrasone DJ1 and the pro's are pretty sweet. i was looking to spend around 100-150 USD anyway and if he's getting a new set, i figured i might as well get him some decent ones. anyone willing to help me out here?
