Why do people keep using this

My Site: Invalid Friend ID

when they say they are linking me to their website?
MySpace is not their website.

I have often seen some artists buy a domain name and when you goto it
it points to their MySpace profile.

Seems a bit cheesey to me but that is mearly my opinion.
Should artists ( or potential artists ) be using tis type of self promotion?
