Question Gig at Local Pub

Dear All,

I would appreciate you opinions / feedback on a matter please?

I was in my local pub a few days ago talking to some mates, and a member of the commitee approached me and took me aside. I was informed that someone had made a suggestion about me DJing there on Saturday night - was I interested? I of course said "Yes!"

When asked what equipment I would require, I informed him I was more-or-less self contained with decks, mixer, headphone etc, but would require a PA system. I was told there would be money laid out by the pub for me to hire one. I've got a small lighting rig, which ought to do, the place is only small, holds 150 people. The lighting rig I currently have is here, although I will be expanding it:

SOUNDLAB PARTYZONE 2 - COMPLETE LIGHTING KIT- COMPLETE PACKAGE

Finally I requested to know what sort of music I would need to play and he said "across the board, all genres from 1950s to modern." He finished by saying, "the committee appears to be happy so hopefully you've have a gig here within three months. I'll let you know." I left my e-mail and number with him and again behind the bar.

I live just across the street so getting my gear over shouldn't be a problem. I use combination of vinyl and CD. People of all ages use the pub, it's a family place.

How should I approach this? I've never DJed in a small pub before, only nightclubs. Also, I'm nervous my parents may try and prevent me, any ideas to get them onside? I want to do it and will!

If you need further information, please don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers!
