i need to get myself some monitors and a amp,im using my crappy pc speakers at the minute which r useless which is why i have to mix in the headphones 95% of the time,not lookin to spend a fortune just something that will do the job.

depends how much you've got to spend really, i reccommend checking out ebay and keeping a look out for the wharfedale diamond series, excellent hi-fi quality speakers and you can now pick them up reletively cheap on ebay Or the JBL Control 1 speakers are also very good

yeah, get some good brand second hand stuff if you budget is 150.

stay away from kam/gemini speakers....there awful!

yeah the clue is in the price. with audio you get what you pay for.

think im goin to get those jbl control 1 speakers,what sort of amp would i need with them though,does it really matter?

ideally you want a little 'no frills' power amp (just 2 volume knobs nothing else) as you have control of eq and multiple inputs through your mixer. get an amp that is rated at a lower wattage than your speaker...then you cant blow them up!

i run a set of full range gale speakers (?70) through a phonic power amp (?120) and a krk active sub (?200) sounds great as a combo.

man how can you deal with comp speakers

Mate go to www.richersounds.co.uk you'll get a really nice amp and speakers from there for 150 they've got some nice eltax concept speakers @ 180 watts for ?80 and you can get an amp off them too
