| wicked mate. As for mp3's theyre all stored on my hardrive in a library sorted alphabetically by Artist. Then i burn them to disc, bout 5 to a disc when i get new ones, making sure that i don't put two tracks on the same cd that i might want to mix together.

| One hell of a tool and easy to pick up, I picked it up in 10 mins, if only beatmatching took so quick to grasp |

just make sure you sit bang in the middle of the bpm you want otherwise you can be up to half a bpm out

| cdj's will tell you the bpm of a track on their lcd display, it also gives you a % pitch readout at the same time. put a tune on it will tell you the bpm, pitch it up til you hit the next bpm look at the % pitch - this amount is the key - do it again to the next bpm just to check it's the same amount. Now you know exactly how much to pitch it up by to get a 1 bpm increase. Makes beatmixing soooo simple

| i used to agree but honestly if you get this method sorted with 2 cdj's you only need the phones to find your cue point and you don't have to beatmix at all you just sync your tunes straight away. i learnt it from some psy trance mates of mine who have been using cdj 800's since they came out

| The bpm is a help, but done relie on it! the cdj's can give you the wrong read out, but this is mostly for dnb and some breakbeat house is usually spot on. Even if you have both cds at the same bpm, it doesnt mean they are matched perfectly because its to the nearest bpm, if it told you the tune bpm down to a decimal place (like 127.4) you could relie on it to be pretty much perfectly matched. A good little trick for smooth blends on the cdjs is to have the master tempo switched on, when you go to slightly speed up or slow down the tune on the jog wheel. If you do this you dont get the pitch change when you speed up/slow down the , which can make a mix sound awful, especially if the tune has a constant synth or string on it! your tunes cant be to different in bpm tho, if you go over +/- 3% the tune starts to get that double beat effect, which is naff hope you understand Last edited by Paulie_p; 21st October 2006 at 20:55. |
