Default Beatmatching/D&B

Im taking it you dont need to do alot of beatmatching when mixing D&B or am I completely wrong ?

No its just the same, there just a lot less kicks and drums.

Where did you get that idea from? (Although some of the 'top flite' d&b dj's have been rumoured to play pre-mixed dub plates and cd's)

D&B is if anything easier to mix than a 4/4 beat pattern cause you can hear it going out quicker imo. It's all about listening to the snares though not the kiks.

A lot of pitch riding needs to be done when mixing DnB on-the-fly (i think)

theres a hell of alot of skill needed to pull off a really good D&B mix as alot of tracks have long weird intros and outros. Its easier to mix than slower beats though.

Cheers, jus cus when Ive listened to sets they dont sound very beatmatched at all, alot of cuts etc involved I thought

yeah theres alot of cuts and chopping involved. Music wise it should be a personal preference, whatever you enjoy playing. Thers no reason to stick to 1 style either, infact the more varied your sets are the better. You can even play different sets on different nights, times of day etc. ie. House one night, D&B & Hip Hop another night. Could also mean more bookings then as your appealing to a wider audience
