Default A different type of festival

Ok, so i went on a work holiday to italy the weekend just gone. We sayed in Turin, on sunday went to a town called Ivrea and took part in a rather different festival.....

+ YouTube Video

Yes those are oranges!!!!!

We were part of one of the foot teams. The carts go round every square in the town (and some of the streets) where hundreds of people are waiting to through oranges at them.

As you can see the carts are loaded with oranges for the people in them to throw back they also where body armour (guess why), unlike the foot teams.

loads of people get injured in this, especially if you get really close to the carts (as the vid shows). I did this once....learnt my lesson then stayed a bit further back for the rest of it!

By the end of it(3 hours 2pm-5pm), the squares are about 6 inches deep in orange kack, needless to say you are completely coated to!

Inbetween the carts going through the squares traditional bands play and everyone dances round and drinks wine!

Theres a whole tradition behind this madness....which i can only half remember.....look it up on the net if your intrested

It was such an amazing experience! what an Awesome day!
