not many really, even most top of the range mixers still only have 3 bang EQ. 4 band eq is nice but not neede most of the time although i do like the extra flexibility. Allen & Heath are the only manufacturer i can think of and i'm not sure if the DJM 1000 has 4 band eq

Djm 1000 is 3 band to.

i know people who are not very keen on 4-band eq, its probabily because all they have ever used is 3-band and it's surved them well, so why bother changing (bit like technics owners )

i can use either, but if you want to get proper technical with your eqing the more bands the better.

i don't like using 4 band eq's and tbh i don't really see why you need them either

Arrow Reason?

I currently am using VDJ and wanted to up my level and based on my mixing style i use alot of EQ and the more the better. It doesnt make sence for me to buy an external mixer without 4 EQ and EQ Cut switches. I think i mite settle for KAM - 150 its got what i need + its cheap LOL

Thanks

more potential to sound crap as well, i see loads of dj's trying to use more complex gear than they need whether that be effects, eq's whatever, when they haven't even really mastered the basics (i'm not aiming that at anyone on here btw). Just leads to rough as funk mixing. I've been playing for 10 years and reckon i don't use my djm500 (with only 3 eq's) to it's full potential yet.

Also the age old arguement applies: most mixers i play on out only have 3 eq's so why would i want to be practising with 4??

fair point tOM, most gear only has 3 band EQ so using 4 at home is a bit pointless really although 4 band eq on all mixers would be nice

if your worth your salt you should be able to adapt inbetween 3 and 4 band with ease.

yeah exactly, i think 4 is better than 3, the more the better, at the end of the day you don't have to use it

Arrow Bcd2000

I already have a 3 band eq mixer of sorts. I have a MIDI controller / mixer the bcd2000 hence if i plan to get an external mixer i would rather make it a 4 channel one. I am not big into effects @ all.

Thanks
tj

i own a djm 600 but have also played out on allen & heath mixers too, to be honest i prefer using the 3 band eq on the pioneer just cos it's more user friendly than allen & heath the pots are way to small & close together :-(
