| Hi guys, my first thread here. I am very passionate about my music so i wanted to ask yall a question. I dont own any equipment but got a chance to practice on some - CDJ1000MK1 and MK2 with the pioneed DJM-500. I like the equipment but i had a problem while beatmatching i had the beats lined but n it sounded good for first 30 secs into the mix then one started to drift off beat - do all CD-players have this problem ? If answer is no which ones keep the beat locked ? Thanks tj P.S: have no idea wat the MK3 is like. |

| The cd player only does what you tell it to do, like a computer. So if the mix drifted out, you just need to bring it back in, sounds like you were practicing on pretty much the best players on the market. Don't go for players that have auto beat matching facilities because they're not reliable enough. Welcome to DJPassion btw

| ive got a set of mark 2's and they will hold in beat for about 45 seconds before you have to do a small pitch bend to get your tunes back in perfect sync again. |

| i find this strange as whenever i have played with the 800 and 1000's i have been able to get them to hold pitch with each other perfectly and they never drift

| yeah, if you get your beats perfectly matched in the 1st place then you wont av a problem, the CDJ's dont drift in tempo, but they're only as good as the DJ using them

| if you are running two cdj's you don't need to beatmix it's all about the maths

| i've tried to explain this on another post Its Finally Starting ! but it is possible to figure out how much to move the pitch slider to change the tempo of a track by 1 bpm exactly, so unless your tunes are written at say 145.5 or .7 etc you can just sync the bpms and you're away. This really does work i was taught the method by a mate of mine who plays psy trance and only uses cd's. He doesn't really bother beatmixing at all now and niether did i when i was playing with his decks. A quick listen everynow and then just to check it's not drifting (which it does very occasionally) but that's it obviously i'd encourage learning how to beatmix anyway

| honestly the tracks are usually going to drift a tad. its just a part of djing. and myself i dont match bpm's in fact i dont rely on the digital aspect of it at all. too unreliable in my eyes. i have serato and i dont ever use the beatmatching visual tools. sometimes the songs will be matched the bars dont match up. best advice anyone ever gave me "use your ears!" |

| I agree with the above, I find beatmatching on cdj's extremely easy, but boring. Mixing on turntables with vinyl is a lot harder but ultimately more satisfying - plus cdj1000 move their pitch up/down in 0.02% steps, wheres a Technics SL1200 (for example) has no steps but a continious adjustable curve and as such is (with many years practice) ultimately more accurate.
