Default EQ'ing

Used to pull of better mixing transitions, change basslines between two records and so on

Share EQ'ing methods with others here

Love the eq's. I use them like you said to make mixes smoother and to enhance breakdowns and build ups etc. Can also have interesting effects when used in conjunction with effects. I like using them with filters

wot i do lads when e' qing is the records/record that is playing should always be at a flat eq on the mixer 12.00 low mid & hi cos the producers that have made the tune have already mastered eq'd it anyways, unless you get a really poor produced tune then yeh give it some more. the record that i am going to cue in when levels are set i put the eq's bass say 7.00 mid say 10.00 high 10-10.30 , so when in the mix i slowly increase the high & decrease the high on the other main tune, slowly increase the mid & decrease the mid on the main tune, then wait for the bass swap then your sorted most bass swaps take place after a little break or cymbol change or fill in etc... but if not use the smae method decreasing & increasing so you get the perfect blend

When I mix using mixing software I’m really sloppy when it comes to eqing but when mixing on proper equipment I’ve found that cueing up a track with all the bands set as 9 o’ clock makes beatmatching between two tunes a lot easier and more accurate. Once matched up the two tunes in the cans by altering the gain and the bands in the cans, stop the cued record. Put the eq bands back to 9 o ‘clock, when mixing the tune back in just fade until your ready two switch then swap one channel from say 80 / 90 to 100 and swap the record playing out at the same time to say 80 – 90. Then swap eq bands while fading the outgoing record.

I know what I mean anyway

Dam, been djing for well over 3 years and I’ve only just come across that technique

I should mix more

I usually have the bass cut on the new track coming, sometimes the higs aswell. i use high pass and low pass filters in most mixes, it makes smoother transtions.

I like to do that sometimes aswell. Also like to swap over the basslines between the two tracks and jump between the two
