The way you split tracks in Sound Forge is pretty similar to way you do it in Nero Wave Editor ,,, I checked.

I'll try Nero Wave Editor first, if no go with that I'll get Sound Forge - can't go wrong with that as you have explained exactly how to split the tracks using that programme

Nice one - I'll look into it more
