I had a pair of them James - I bought a pair from Argos for ?30 they seemed like a good pair of headphones for 8mths of so until the day they packed up on me. The sounds are ok on them. Good for the higher frequencies but not so good for the bass I thought. I also found that the cans were too small - they weren't very comfortable to work with.
Anyways the right can fecked up on mine after 8mths or so....
So I wouldn't rate the 500's whatsoever.
I've heard the 700's are meant to be just as good as the Senny 25's though.
I'll still get the Sennys though. I've always used Tech's and Sony's time for a change
