A year ago i would have agreed with reece. I use ableton and love it to bits .... but with Ableton 7 being a bit more expensive than it used to be and the new version of logic studio being so cheap i would probably buy logic if i was starting from scratch now

Having said that i think ableton is a lot more user friendly than logic (as reece said it is a comprehensive and complicated bit of kit) - but some people disagree and can't get their heads around a non-linear style of seqencing

I would recommend that you download a demo of both spend some time with each one and find out which you prefer to use and invest in that.

At the end of the day different software suits different people if you are going to invest in some serious software make sure it's the right choice for you
